Mushroom pickers keep sheriff busy with 'missing' reports

EUGENE, Ore. - The sheriff tracked down mushroom pickers missing in 3 different locations along the Oregon Coast last weekend.

All of the missing people were found OK, but they were cold and wet due to the weather, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

Two men got lost in the Walton area; one at Sutton Lake; and another along the Siltcoos Trail south of Florence, Oregon.

The Sheriff's Office wants to remind anyone who is planning to recreate in the woods to carry basic survival gear including water, a compass, a map of the area, food, rain gear and warm clothing.

The sheriff also recommends fully charging your cell phone prior to your trip and telling someone where you will be going and when you plan to return.
