Police: Man stabbed, suspect at large

NEWPORT, Ore. -- Newport police are looking for information about a stabbing that occurred early Saturday morning, leaving one man hospitalized from his injuries.

Police say that at around 2:00 a.m., an officer came across a group of people near the intersection of Highway 101 and Hwy 20. That's where officers say they found Daniel Brown, 23, of Newport, with a severe stab wound to his leg.

Police say Brown had also been stabbed elsewhere on his leg and back.

Authorities say the man was treated on the scene and then taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, where he underwent surgery.

Newport police, along with Lincoln County deputies searched the area for the suspect, who they say fled on foot. Officials were unable to find the man.

The suspect is described as a Male adult wearing a dark colored hooded jacket and light colored pants.

Police say Brown is expected to survive his injuries.
