COOS COUNTY, Ore. -- The North Bend Coos Bay city clean up day is an opportunity for some clean competition this weekend.
The cities are teaming up with sanitation companies in the area to offer residents the opportunity to clean house while giving to charity.
Residents can drop off up to four cans of household trash in exchange for a donation to South Coast Food Share this Saturday.
Clean up day coordinator Lisa Magill says they think it's a good way to not only help the hungry, but spruce up the area. "We sat down and came up with this cleanup day and thought that we could give back to the community with the food drive as well," Lisa said. "We always try to see who has the most tonnage and who got the most food. We always keep track we get a report, and I know if North Bend had more sites Coos Bay would be hurting. We keep track of that every year."
