Police ID burglary suspect found dead after struggle

GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division detectives have released the name of the man found dead after a scuffle South of Grants Pass.

Authorities say two employees interrupted a burglary in progress at Innovative Woodworx LLC located at 2245 Harbeck Road just after 7:00 am on Tuesday.

Detectives say a brief physical scuffle ensued between the men and the suspect, before the employee and his father detained the man and notified police.

A 911 call was made, notifying authorities that the suspect, later identified as Jasen Robert Lewis, 33, of Grants Pass, was not breathing.

Officials say that about 10 minutes later, medical crews pronounced Lewis deceased.

An autopsy is pending to confirm the cause and manner of his death.

Authorities say Lewis was wanted on outstanding warrants, including a felony warrant for failure to appear.
