FLORENCE, Ore. -- A man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday night after police say he ran in front of an SUV on Highway 101 south of Florence.
The man was taken to Peace Harbor Hospital before being transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
State police received a call about a pedestrian lying in front of an SUV near milepost 192 just before 9 p.m. Saturday.
Police said that Nancy Pearson, 55, of Florence, was driving her GMC Envoy on Hwy 101 when a man ran onto the road in front of her. Crash investigators reported that by the time Pearson saw the man, later identified as Jeffrey Miller, 46, of Florence, she couldn't avoid hitting him.
The first trooper on-scene said he started treating Miller's injuries until medical responders got to the scene. Pearson was unhurt in the crash, officials said.
