Police search for explosive device near Capitol, nothing found

SALEM, Ore. -- Police agencies in Salem closed streets near the Oregon State Capitol after they received a report of an explosive device.
After searching the area on Monday afternoon, officers did not find any such device.
Police closed Court Street between 12th Street and Cottage Street north of the Capitol to all pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The north entrance to the State Capitol building was closed and no evacuations were ordered.
The roads re-opened around 2:30 p.m.
Police said around 1 p.m. Monday, the Oregon State Police Northern Command Center dispatch received a phone call from an unidentified man who said an explosive device was in a parked car north of the State Capitol.
Detectives are now working to find the man who called in the hoax threat.
