Power restored to Coos Bay after 9 hour blackout

COOS BAY, Ore. -- Much of Coos Bay and the surrounding areas are without power after a shortage cut service to over 5,800 customers Sunday morning.

Police said the power outage, which started at around 11 a.m. Sunday happened after a power short on Lockhart St. in Coos Bay.

Pacific Power officials temporarily restored power at 6:30 p.m., however service was officially restored at 8 p.m. Sunday.

The Coos Bay-North Bend Water Board issued a boil warning for homes that were without power Sunday. Parts of east side Coos Bay who did have power today are also being asked to boil water.
