Reward offered for stabbing suspect

Coos Bay Police are looking for Lawrence "Larry" James Martinez after he allegedly stabbed a man outside the Silver Dollar Tavern on Saturday night.

They responded to a call of a stabbing just after 11:00 p.m. Saturday and found George Hoggatt, 61, of Coos Bay, outside and suffering from at least one stab wound to his back, from a knife.

He was taken to Bay Area Hospital, treated, and later released.

Bar owner Jessie Lund tells KCBY that the men had just been walking by the Silver Dollar and were not customers, but she did turn over surveillance footage to Police from an outside camera.

Coos Bay Police tell KCBY that there is no evidence to suggest the two men had been acquainted prior to the stabbing, and they are investigating what led to the incident.

Martinez is being charged with multiple offenses, including Assault and being a Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon.

He is considered "Armed and Dangerous" and should not be approached.

Larry Martinez is described as 5'7, 180 pounds, with black hair, including mustache and goatee. A script tattoo is visible on the right side of his neck and he has a teardrop tattoo near his eye and markings on his earlobes.

Coos Stop Crime is offering a reward of up to $500 for information leading to his arrest. Call 541-267-6666. All callers will be kept anonymous.
