Runners brave chilly weather on south coast

BANDON, Ore. -- It was a chilly weekend, but about 60 runners put on their shorts and running shoes, and headed to Bullards Beach in Bandon.

Sunday was the 39th annual Bullard's Run, an event sponsored by the South Coast Running Club.

There was a one mile kid run, a 5-K and a 10-K.

The 10-K took runners out to the historic Coquille River Lighthouse.

Co-Chair of the event, Tom Bedell, says the money raised by the run all goes to a good cause. "The proceeds that go beyond the expenses we incur go to scholarships for high school students who have been active in running, either cross country or track, and have good grades and planning to go to college and continue their careers," he said.

There was also a T-shirt swap at the event, where people could bring a shirt and take another one home.

Organizers say that all the leftover t-shirts are donated to charity.
