RIDDLE, Ore. -- The Sheriff's office says they found the car that belongs to the man wanted by authorities for a shooting that happened last week.

Last Wednesday just before 5:00 pm, deputies responded to the 400 block of Mont Street in Canyonville, after Jacob Lampton, 23, of Myrtle Creek, was shot in the face while sitting in his parked vehicle.

The Sheriff's office says the suspect, David Baumgaertel, 39, of Myrtle Creek, fled in a red Honda Civic.

Lampton was taken to Mercy Hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the face. Lampton has since been released from the hospital.

On Friday just before 11:00 am, a citizen called in a tip, reporting that the vehicle was at the Glen Haven apartments in Riddle.

Deputies say they recovered the vehicle. Officials checked the area and searched several apartments, but Baumgaertel was not found.

The Sheriff's office says Baumgaertel is wanted on charges of attempted murder.

Deputies say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of David Baumgaertel is asked to contact local law enforcement immediately.
