Sheriff: Confused woman found wandering on side of Oregon road

ALBANY, Ore. - Do you recognize this woman?

She says her name is Katie Walker and that she was born April 4, but she does not know what year. She told authorities she had hitchhike from Maine to Oregon, where she was found wandering Tuesday evening about 4 miles east of Albany.

A passerby offered her water, but she just poured it out, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said. And medics were unable to complete a medical evaluation because the woman proved uncooperative.

Sheriff Tim Mueller is asking for the public's help identifying her. Mueller said she appears to be well kept but acted confused and was not cooperative. She had no identification with her when she was found and has not been helpful in providing deputies with information as to where she lives or who her family is.

Deputies canvassed the surrounding area but have been unable to find anyone who knows the woman.

No missing person reports matching her description have been filed with local police agencies.

Based on the circumstances, she was taken in custody for her own protection and is currently receiving medical care at a local hospital, Mueller said.

She is approximately 50 to 70 years of age, has blue eyes and shoulder length white hair, and is approximately 5-foot-2 and 153 pounds.

She has a surgery scar on the bottom of her foot and a scar on the base of her neck approximately 4 inches long.
