South Coast All-Stars happy with improvement

COOS COUNTY, Ore. -- The South Coast All-Stars recently arrived back in Coos County after taking third place at the regional tournament.

Although the group didn't achieve their goal of winning and advancing to nationals, they're maintaining that winners philosophy as they look at the positives of their journey through regionals. "Real pleased with the things we did," said manager Rob Laskey. "It's farther than this team's gone, this group of kids has gone."

Austin Soria, a first baseman, agreed. "Last year we didn't place, we got last, and this year we got third, so that was pretty good," he said.

Coach Laskey says you can't beat the experience gained at the tournament. "It helps you know North Bend and Marshfield programs with playoffs and state and stuff like that, it gives these kids a little more experience on a bigger stage."

Although baseball is over until the high school season starts up, the boys were right back on that field so they could build on the experience gained at regionals.
