Stormy seas are coming

BASTENDORFF BEACH, Ore. -- A high surf warning was in effect Nov. 28th and the morning of the 29th.

The National Weather Service said there were dangerous rip current and waves got up to 28 feet high.

Some people drove out to Chicken Point in Charleston later in the day on the 29th hoping to see a show.

But that's not what they got.

Later in the morning, the surf died down, but the Coast Guard Station Commanding Officer Chuck Chavtur says we aren't in the clear.

"The storm front coming through doesn't seem to be as powerful as the last one that came through, but that doesn't mean that one of those following bands that's coming ashore couldn't bring a punch with it,” says Chavtur.

The weather and the water is expected to get more dangerous over the weekend.
