Student Closet in need of donations

NORTH BEND, Ore.- For three years now the North Bend High School Clothes Closet has provided free clothing to homeless and needy students.

The Closet Committee is comprised of nearly 25 student and parent volunteers, and funded by grants and community donations.

Closet Student President, Timothy Edingfield tells KCBY, this time of year they're in need of donations.

"It is so important because students can't really plan for cold weather. They can't say, "oh mother nature is going to make it snow, or hail, or whatever." They do with what they have" says Edingfield.

Two thousand items have been donated to the Clothes Closet ranging from fashionable purses, socks, shoes and pants.

This on-trend closet is also looking for prom dresses and tuxedo donations.

"That would be very helpful and it would really make it possible for someone that is in economic deficit that would be able to come to Prom and feel welcome and feel enthusiastic and excited. And not feel like, "I went to the thrift store" exclaims Edingfield.

The North Bend Clothes Closet is open everyday during lunch and eighth period on Fridays.

If you would like to donate warm clothes, Prom attire, personal hygiene products, or to volunteer your time (you do not have to be a north Bend student) contact Timothy Edingfield at 541-217-8175 or North Bend Closet Point Person, Heidi Roe.
