COOS BAY, Ore. - A week after someone detonated an improvised explosive device at a Vietnam veterans memorial in Mingus Park, someone again vandalized the cross-shaped monument.
Police Chief Gary McCullough said someone painted on the cross early Friday morning.
The city had the cross cleaned shortly after discovering the vandalism.
A public meeting to address the cross was supposed to be held on Tuesday but was canceled following last week's explosion.
The Vietnam Memorial featuring a cross came under criticism from a group opposed to religious symbols on public property.
Before the explosion and Friday's vandalism, the memorial had been vandalized by people both in favor of and against keeping the memorial.
