Winner of shopping spree gives back to community

COOS BAY, Ore. -- The Grocery Outlet in Coos Bay celebrated it's 25th anniversary this weekend by giving back.

Two lucky people won shopping sprees through the store.

Members of North Bend baseball, softball, girls soccer and career class sold raffle tickets for the spree.

They raised over $1,300, and the money will be divided between the teams.

Mikena Shay won the grand prize: a two-minute shopping spree through the store.

Mikena joined the Grocery Outlet in the spirit of giving. She's giving all the food to a local food bank and cat food and litter to Cohl's Cat House. "Well, we thought there's other people that could use it so we thought it would be nice to donate it," Shay said.

Pat Backman, the owner and operator, said she's grateful for all the years of loyal customers shopping in her store. "It will be a fun event for everybody, basically just to thank our customers for 25 years, because obviously without them, we wouldn't be here," she said.

The business had a drawing for 25 prizes.
