Worker killed when 1,500-pound press falls on him

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) - Crook County sheriff's officers say a 27-year-old Redmond, Ore., man was killed when a 1,500-pound metal press fell on him Wednesday at the Fontana Wood Products mill northwest of Prineville.

Deputy Ryan Seaney identified the victim as Joshua Lee Ketchem.

The deputy says Ketchem had been working alone underneath a large metal press, supported by a forklift, when the press fell on him.

Other employees found him a short time later and lifted him out from under the press. Medics were unable to revive him.

The deputy says an investigation is continuing.
