COOS BAY, Ore. -- Deputies say a North Bend man was arrested on Tuesday for firing a gun towards another person after a confrontation.

At about 6:40 pm, a Coos County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a report of shots fired at a residence on Sunnyvale Road in the Millington area, south of Coos Bay.

Authorities say an investigation led to the arrest of Phillip R. Gravelle, 61, of North Bend.

Deputies say that Gravelle went to his mother's property and confronted a 53-year-old man who was doing work there.

Authorities say that during the confrontation Gravelle produced a handgun and fired it towards the other man.

Gravelle was arrested and charged by the Sheriff's office with menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.

He was lodged at the Coos County Jail and later released after posting bail.

The 53-year-old was not injured.
