APTOPIX Germany Gambsbart Olympics
A participant of the Gamsbart Olympics in traditional clothes stands in front of the Karwendel Mountains near Mittenwald, southern Germany Sunday Oct 14, 2012. The Gamsbart (chamois beard), originally worn as a hunting trophy, is a tuft of hair worn as decoration in the alpine regions of Austria and Germany. It is made by enclosing the lower end of the tuft of hair in a setting of metal or horn that allows the upper end to spread in a brush-like fashion. The size and diameter of the Gamsbart are important signs of the wearer's pride. (AP Photo/dapd/ Lukas Barth)
