CANYONVILLE, Ore. - Firefighters contained the Shively Creek Fire at 8 a.m. Thursday, capping the early season blaze at 206 acres, the Douglas Forest Protective Association said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
While the fire is 100 percent contained, firefighters will remain on scene for several more days to continue mopping up and extinguishing hot spots.
The public can expect firefightingtraffic in the Upper Cow Creek area for a few more days, DFPA said.
Firefighters also knocked down all the lightning fires ignited by storms that scraped across the region earlier this week. The fires ranged in size from a single smoldering tree to about 1/2 acre.
