PORT ORFORD, Ore. - The powerful Pacific storm washed a sailboat up onto the rocks in the Port of Port Orford this weekend.

The Star of Siam anchored off Port Orford to weather the storm after taking on fuel, according to Rockne Berge, who filed a YouNews report on the grounding.

The Port and the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed a sailboat washed ashore and remained grounded in the port.

Berge said the skipper and his brother dropped anchor next to the fishing port only to have the anchor ropes snap.

The vessel left San Francisco on September 24, bound for the Columbia River, Berge wrote.
