Bill lets Ore. school districts leave regional ESD

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Legislature has voted to allow all school districts to withdraw from regional educational service districts.

The House passed the measure 57-1 on Monday, sending it to Gov. John Kitzhaber.

Education service districts provide centralized administrative, technical and special education services for multiple school districts. Lawmakers voted in 2011 to allow a limited group of school districts to leave their service district. This year's measure would allow any district to do so.
