COOS BAY, ORE - Last season they ended up just three points shy of winning the conference title. Now,even as they face a season of change, the Marshfield Pirates feel they can grab that elusive title.

Just about anywhere you look around the Pirate football program you see change taking place.

There is work going on to put a new, safer, field turf on their home field, a second week "home" game being played at North Bend, a change of teams in their conference...with Thurston out and Marist in...but the changes that could have the biggest impact this season are taking place on the offensive side of the ball.

League MVP Kyle Tedder has graduated, so Dallas Milburn is settling in as their new starting quarterback. But, he has a familiar face to throw to, as brother Dalton moves his 6'6, 270 pound, frame to end.

Coach Justin Ainsworth says, throw in a deep set of running backs, both new and returners like Ryan Scoville, and he expects the offense will have more balance this year.

As that offense works hard to gel, with new faces on the offensive line as well, the team will lean on an experienced and aggressive defense to set the tone.

So, while the Pirate ship looks to set sail into some uncharted waters in 2010, they do so with the belief that the elusive conference title is at last within their reach.
