Crab feed intends to raise some bucks for the Bucs
By Erica Rush, KCBY NewsCOOS BAY, Ore. -A young wrestling squad looking at going to Nationals, is hoping folks come out to crack crab with them this weekend to help give them a leg-up against their competition. For the second year in a row, the Team Bucs Youth Wrestling Club is working hard, preparing for the upcoming USA National Folkstyle Wrestling Championship Tournament in Cedar Falls, Iowa. And after bringing back a National Championship and a couple placers last year, the Bucs squad has nearly doubled, with 11 members, grades second through eighth, preparing for the end of the month tournament. According to Coach Travis Wittlake, "I expect we'll have several All-Americans. We have a couple kids that really have a chance at winning the National Championship Tournament this year, so I expect that out of those kids. And a lot of kids it's going to be their first trip for them so it's a big deal, it's going to be an eye opener for them." But before these wrestlers can gain the experience, Wittlake says they're really banking on community support, inviting folks to a crab feed this Saturday, March 6. Held at the Marshfield High School Cafeteria from 12-5 pm, a full crab meal will run you just $15. Tam Bucs wrestlers are from all over the South Coast, including Florence to Myrtle Point.
