A late call determines Bulldogs fate
By Erica Rush, KCBY NewsNORTH BEND, Ore. -After clinching the Far West League Title, the North Bend Bulldogs would open the playoffs at home Saturday night against the Newport Cubs. But it would all come down to a questionable call by the officials. North Bend trailing most of the first half, start to pick up momentum in the second quarter as Sam Lynass rethinks the three and steps around to nail the two. Cubs power house Stuart Bartlodus in the middle, knocks one in plus the foul and they continue to lead by seven. The shots not always falling for the Bulldogs, they hang in there, getting the boards and the buckets that follow and would eventually end the game up by one point, 52-51. But that's before officials would call a foul on Lynass, after folks say time had run out on the clock. That sent a Cub to the line, who sank two free throws and snatched the lead, 53-52, thus ending the Bulldogs run for the playoffs. Most Popular |
