Nick's Six Picks: Mustache miscues and the Maehl Man delivers

Nick's Six Picks, counting down the top local plays and achievements from the week that was in your local world of sports.

6. Kenny Powers' Wardrobe Malfunction: Special guest star Kenny Powers lost his mustache during the High School Gameday Spooktacular.

5. Pilaging Through the Vikings: Siuslaw may have won the Far West league title Friday night, but Sutherlin's Kyle Jaukkuri plowed through a boat-load of Vikings on his was for the touchdown.

4. Beavers Gone Wild: Last year it worked on Halloween vs. UCLA, this time it was Halloween eve when Quizz Rodgers got into the Wild Beaver formation and threw a touchdown pass. The first of the career for West Albany grad Colby Prince.

3. Come Sail Away With Me: Micah Espinosa of the Maplteton Sailors made an amazing 58-yard house call against Triangle Lake.

2. Got Your Bishop:  On most weeks, OSU's Jordan Bishop would have grabbed the top spot for this all-out grab against Cal.

1. Be Sure to Thank Your Maehl Man: Oregon's Jeff Maehl has gone from defensive back to one of the best wideouts in the Pac-10. His 8 catch, 145 yard, 3 TD performance against USC was awesome. None better than his 45-yard leaping & juggling catch in the second quarter.

We set 'em up and count 'em down each Sunday night at 6:30 and 11:00 on KVAL News.

Western Oregon's longest running and hardest hitting high school football highlight show, High School Gameday,  is on TV every Friday night at 11:20 on KVAL. (Except for this week when the games are on Thursday, October 7th.)
