EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Recently acquired center Marcus Camby had to leave the Portland Trail Blazers' game against the New Jersey Nets with a sprained right ankle on Tuesday night.

Camby was hurt when Nets center Brook Lopez stepped on his ankle as both waited for a rebound a little more than 5 minutes after the opening tip.

X-rays were negative and coach Nate McMillan did not think the injury was serious.

"I contested a shot (by Devin Harris) and I think Lopez stepped on my ankle," Camby said. "My momentum went the other way. It is pretty sore right now."

Camby was acquired on Feb. 16 from the Los Angeles Clippers for Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw and cash considerations because of season-ending injuries to centers Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla.

"Hey, Camby, welcome to Portland," McMillan said referring to the Trail Blazers' injury-plagued season. "It's amazing what our guys are going through. I think he's going to be OK."

Brandon Roy could only shake his head after the game.

"Is our center spot cursed?" he said.
