The Oregon Coast Music Association rocked Shore Acres with a free concert from Soulpie. This large ensemble turned a foggy afternoon into a sun drenched party with a variety of memories made into music. The kids caught on right away, this sound was made for dancing. It took the grown ups a bit longer but by the middle of the second set even the AARP had arms flailing and hips swinging. Soulpie makes all of this look simple and when they slow down and let one of the vocalists take a turn they don't miss a step. The warm honey and whiskey version of "Son of a Preacher Man" would have made Dusty Springfield proud. Shore Acres created a space meant for fun; the kids chased bubbles, the adults captured memories, and there was grass dancing the likes of which haven't been seen since Woodstock. Okay, some of the dancers hid behind the shrubs but their spirits were free.
